Since we've been married, we've managed to celebrate the 4th of July differently every year, but each year is just as much fun as the last. This year, Tyson's sister Christy and her husband Travis and their cute family invited us up to their cabin to celebrate the holiday. This last winter, they built their amazing cabin by Schofield Resivour.
We headed up on Saturday morning where Christy and I took the kids to the Schofield parade while Tyson went to work. It was a cute and decent sized parade. It only took about 20 minutes which I thought was the perfect amount of time!
(Mason, Jaxon, Nathan, Logan, and Austin) these boys were great at collecting all the candy!
Since there was a cabin full of Browns, of coarse there was a lot of "friendly" competition going on. At the Engar's cabin, they have lots of fun toys which includes mini 4-wheelers. It didn't take long for the boys to establish a track and start conducting relay races. It was very entertaining to watch and I even gave it a go at one point ( I was secretly a little shaky afterwards though)!

Followed by a victory fist pump!
Josh and Tyson were basically wearing the same outfit so everyone kept getting them confused.

Zach, going as fast as he can.
Later that night, Tyson found the legos and so unlike my very non-competitive husband (wink, wink), he just HAD to create the tallest lego tower.
Lined up tallest to shortest from Travis to newborn baby Rowan. I couldn't get all of the people and all of the tower in one shot.
At the cabin, there is a constant buzzing sound outside which we found was made by these little critters
Cicadas!
There were so many of them that the boys were able to trap a whole bunch and we tried to go fishing with them.

I was laughing so hard at Mason cause this was his reaction to me when I told him to "smile".

We also had a really fun time catching crawdads. We were pretty successful and Tyson even cooked some up for dinner!

I waited for the BBQ instead...
On Sunday, we were able to go to church up in the little town of Schofield. They have a very all branch there and on the 4th of July weekend they get around 500-600 people coming to their building. There were so many people that the members parked there car on the grass and we sat outside under a shade tent for the services.
To the right is the cute little church.

Since it was so crowded and because we couldn't hear, we put our chaos in a circle and had our own little Sunday school lesson for the kids.

It was a pretty cool experience to see all the dedicated latter day saints who still made church a priority on their vacations. It just confirms my belief so much that the church is true.
When we got home Monday, we joined some of our neighbors for some fireworks. They had a pretty good collection between them all and it was fun to watch the kids get so excited around the cool explosions.
You know it's the 4th of July when you have sparklers!
Later that night, PG Jr. had a firework show. Instead of competing with the crowds, Me, Tyson, Bree, Lyndsie and her sister Lauren, got onto our roof to watch the show. We had an awesome view and it was crazy to see the whole valley lit up with all the amazing fireworks.

The 4th of July is one of my favorite time of year. I feel so lucky to live in such a great country and very blessed to have such great people to celebrate these things with!
